Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q's

Pet Portrait Commissions

How do I commission a pet portrait?

You can commission a pet portrait by contacting me through my contact form or email address. At this stage I'd request details about your pet including their name and any fun characteristics they possess, as well as your desired portrait size, a required-by date if applicable and any specific requirements you have in relation to the background, pose or colours.

Can you work from separate photos if I want a painting of multiple pets together?

Yes, I can create a composite portrait from separate photos. My two top-tips to make the portrait look natural is to source photos of each pet captured from the same level and with the same direction of the light source.

What are the best photos for you to paint from?

Ideally, photos should be in focus, well-lit, and taken in natural light. High-resolution images are preferred for the best results - the more detail there is in the photo, the higher the level of realism in the pastel portrait.

Can you work from a small or low-quality image?

I can assess the image and let you know if it's suitable for a portrait. In some cases, the resolution may be too low for pastel but I may have alternative suggestions such as a different form of painting for that particular portrait.

How does payment work?

If you are happy with your selection and would like to go ahead with your custom pet portrait, I would request a 50% desposit to secure your space on my calendar. The remaining 50% and any postage cost would be requested upon the portrait's completion. Direct Bank Transfer (BACS) is the preferred method of payment.

Will you share my photos and commission online?

I will only share your photo (as a comparison to the painting) with your permission! I share each portrait's progress videos online as this helps me share my work and gain more custom, however rest assured that your portrait's progress videos and completion content will NOT be shared before your deadline and for a short time afterward. If you would prefer me not to share any of the progress videos, please let me know.

Delivery and Shipping

What's the delivery charge?

Delivery charges vary based on location and size of the portrait. An estimate can be given at the time of enquiry.

How long does it take to receive my order?

The time required to complete a portrait varies, but we typically need 4-6 weeks. If you need it by a specific date, please let us know in advance. You will be alloted a 3 month window in which your portrait should be started, finished and posted within.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I offer international shipping. Additional charges may apply based on the destination.

Returns and Policies

What is your returns policy for commissions?

Due to the custom nature of my work, I do not accept returns on commissioned portraits. However, if there is an issue with your order, please contact me and I will do my best to resolve it.

What if I''m not satisfied with my artwork?

Your satisfaction is my priority so you will receive compositional sketches and colour options inititially, followed by progress images to make sure that you are happy as the portrait progresses. If you have any concerns, please reach out, and I will work with you to ensure you are happy with the final product.
